Moving in Garfield or Lodi: Truck and Resident Parking

Keep Garfield and Lodi parking instructions in separate columns of your move plan. This combined guide helps you distinguish the moving truck’s loading arrangements from resident vehicle parking after the keys change hands. Two Guys and Truck serves moves in both towns; give us the exact origin and destination rather than relying on a Bergen County label.

Garfield: size matters before an overnight stay

Garfield’s parking page restricts vehicles exceeding 22 feet in length and eight feet in width from street parking between 10pm and 6am; it describes a loading/unloading exception limited to 15 minutes. Ask about the actual vehicle before treating a late finish as workable. A full furniture unload should not be scheduled on the assumption that this brief exception covers it. Garfield: check the exact block

The same city page lists oversized-truck parking restrictions that apply at all times on specified streets or stretches, including Columbus Avenue’s entire length. Give us the cross street as well as the house number. The list is a reason to confirm a lawful loading position, rather than assuming every residential curb is available. Garfield parking guidance.

Lodi: plan the resident car separately

Lodi designates all borough streets resident-only from 1am to 5am. Its overnight guidance distinguishes resident permits from visitor requests. Its residential permit page says tenant applications need a Certificate of Occupancy naming the tenant and that stickers are not issued for temporary plates. These resident procedures do not themselves establish truck loading permission. Lodi overnight parking; Lodi residential parking.

How we handle the move plan

For a move between these towns, we discuss both loading locations before using proximity to assess the job. Explain whether the truck would work from a driveway, a street or a building’s designated entrance. Give floor and stair information for each end and tell us if a basement or garage is part of the inventory. If furniture must pass through a shared lobby, obtain the property’s current moving instructions and any COI or elevator requirements. We use the resulting inventory and access details to prepare the written estimate. Keep items for disposal off the moving inventory and confirm their separate disposal arrangements; no collection schedule is assumed here. If a legal standing position remains uncertain, resolve that before relying on a particular start or finish time.

Questions before moving day

Can a Garfield oversized vehicle stay overnight while we unload?

Do not assume a whole move fits the city’s short loading exception. The published size restriction and 15-minute exception need to be checked against the vehicle and the proposed work before committing to a late unload.

Does a Lodi tenant need anything beyond an address for resident parking?

The borough’s resident permit page requires a Certificate of Occupancy listing the tenant. Review the current requirements for your own vehicle; this is separate from arrangements for the mover.

What changes when the move goes from Lodi to Garfield?

The destination needs its own parking check, including Garfield’s oversized-vehicle street list. Send two access descriptions and identify which items will need stairs at each property; a short journey does not remove either loading task.
