In New York, the old lease often ends before the new one starts, a renovation runs late, or a closing moves by a week. Storage between homes bridges the gap without moving twice yourself.
When storage between moves makes sense
Common reasons: a gap between leases, a sale that closes before the purchase, a renovation, a temporary furnished rental, or a long-distance move where you want the delivery to wait until you arrive.
How it works with a mover
The crew packs and loads at the old home, the items go into storage, and the delivery is scheduled when you are ready. You only coordinate one company. Tell us roughly how long you need storage and what you will need to reach during that time.
Packing for storage
Pack for storage as if you will not open the boxes for months: label every box on two sides with the room and contents, wrap furniture, take legs off tables where possible, and keep a separate list of what went into storage. Keep documents, medicine, valuables and the things you use every day with you.
What not to put in storage
Leave out perishable food, anything flammable or hazardous, and plants. Ask about anything unusual before moving day.
Getting the estimate right
Tell us the size of the home, big items, stairs or elevators at both ends, and the expected storage period. A written estimate before moving day lists what is included.
