A move to Connecticut does not always line up with your closing dates. You may have to leave your Bergen County house a week before the Connecticut house is ready. Two Guys and Truck moves you and, when you need it, stores your things in between. We work from Bergen County and New York City, and we move in both directions.
We move you between Bergen County, New York City and Connecticut. We do not do moves that start and end inside Connecticut.
Routes from Bergen County
From Hackensack, South Hackensack, Paramus or Ridgewood, there are two main ways to Connecticut.
- East over the George Washington Bridge. The truck takes I-80, Route 4 or I-95 to the bridge. On the New York side, I-95 crosses the Bronx and heads up the Connecticut shore. This is the direct way to Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk.
- North through Mahwah and over the Mario Cuomo Bridge. Route 17 runs north to I-287 at Mahwah. I-287 crosses the Hudson on the Mario Cuomo Bridge and continues east across Westchester to I-95. This keeps the truck off the city streets and away from the bridge traffic at Fort Lee.
Not every road is open to a moving truck. The Hutchinson River Parkway in New York and the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut are closed to trucks and commercial vehicles. Our guide on Bergen County truck routes and the Garden State Parkway covers the New Jersey side.
Routes from New York City
From Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn, the truck crosses into the Bronx by the RFK Bridge, the Whitestone Bridge or the Throgs Neck Bridge, then follows I-95 north. Manhattan's FDR Drive and Henry Hudson Parkway are closed to trucks, so we plan the streets to the bridge.
Storage when the dates do not match
Closings slip. Leases end before the new place is ready. If you need time between move-out and move-in, ask us about storage. We pick up on your move-out day, keep your things, and deliver them to Connecticut when you are ready. Our storage page explains how it works. Tell us about storage at the estimate, so it is part of the written plan from the start.
Papers for an interstate move
We are A & A Alliance Moving Inc, U.S. DOT No. 967970, MC-432549, an FMCSA-authorized interstate household-goods carrier. A move from New Jersey or New York to Connecticut crosses a state line, so federal rules apply. You get:
- A written estimate that lists your items, the moving services and any storage.
- The FMCSA booklet "Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move."
- A bill of lading when we load. If your things go into storage first, keep this paper safe until delivery day.
Common questions
Can you store my things if my Connecticut house is not ready?
Yes. Ask about storage when you book. We hold your things and deliver them when your new home is ready.
Do you move people from Connecticut to Bergen County or NYC?
Yes. We load in Connecticut and bring everything to your new home in Bergen County or New York City.
Can you take a job that goes from one Connecticut address to another?
No. We do not hold a Connecticut in-state certificate, so one end of every move must be in New York or New Jersey.
